Izabella Gutman was born in Odessa, Ukraine, and lived in Riga and Israel before immigrating to the United States. Growing up as a Jewish girl in the Soviet Union, she faced systemic barriers that prevented her from enrolling in the Art Academy to pursue her passion. Despite these obstacles, she carried a deep love for drawing and a passion for art throughout her life.
After retiring, Izabella was finally able to devote herself fully to her beloved craft. Today, she is an active member of the Jewish Folk Craft Guild in New York. Working in both acrylics and oils across various genres, her paintings aim to convey the profound depth of human emotion and the richness of Jewish cultural heritage through expressive color and form.
Her artwork has been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including showcases dedicated to Jewish culture in New York, and her solo exhibition was highlighted in the “Evening New York” newspaper. Her pieces are held in private collections across Ukraine, Israel, Latvia, and the United States.
